NW-ARM presents the film: Rich Media, Poor Democracy

How do we save democracy?

NW-ARM presents the documentary, “Rich Media, Poor Democracy” on Thursday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. at Gonzaga University Campus, College Hall, Room 101.

This important film demonstrates how journalism has been compromised by massive conglomerates such as Disney, Sony, Viacom, News Corp, and AOL Time Warner, which produce news that is high on sensationalism and low on information. The documentary suggests that unless citizen activists demand more from the press, this new corporate system will be characterized by a rich media and an ever-impoverished, poor democracy.

In an eye-opening call to action “Rich Media, Poor Democracy” warns that we must organize politically to restructure the media if we want democracy to endure.

Join the Northwest Alliance for Responsible Media for this short documentary and an engaging discussion about media, democracy and the upcoming presidential election.

We hope to see you there!
